Frequently Asked Questions

The pieces

Are the pieces actually one-of-a-kind?

Yes. Each Everlastings piece is built by hand, in a single instance, from a unique combination of materials and stories. When a piece is sold, it does not get re-made. (Limited Edition prints are the one exception — clearly labeled when applicable.)

How big are they?

Most pieces are between 4 and 12 inches in their largest dimension — small enough to hold, substantial enough to anchor a shelf or a bedside table. Each product page lists exact dimensions.

How long does each piece take to make?

Anywhere from 40 to 60 hours of meticulous work, sometimes more. Lighting and motion add hours; bespoke materials add hours. The work cannot be rushed without showing.

What materials do you use?

Wood, paper, paint, resin, dried botanicals, archival adhesives, low-voltage LED lighting, and occasionally vintage components. Each product page lists materials specifically.

Are the lights safe to leave on?

Yes — the LEDs are low-voltage, low-heat, and designed to run for hours at a time. We recommend turning them off when you leave the house, but it's a comfort recommendation, not a safety one. Always use the included adapter.

Buying & Shipping

How does the cart work?

Adding a piece to your cart does not reserve it — another collector may complete their purchase first. We verify availability when you click Checkout and place a 15-minute soft hold while you enter shipping and payment. Full details: Availability & Cart policy.

Where do you ship?

Currently US-only. International shipping is on the roadmap. If you'd like a piece shipped abroad in the meantime, reach out and we'll see what we can arrange.

How long does shipping take?

Most pieces ship within 3–5 business days. Once shipped, US delivery is typically 3–7 business days. You'll get a tracking number by email. Full details on the Shipping page.

Is shipping insured?

Yes — every shipment includes insurance. If something arrives damaged, reach out within seven days with photos and we'll make it right.

Can I return a piece I just don't love?

Because each piece is one-of-a-kind, returns are accepted only if the piece arrives damaged or significantly different from what was shown. We ask that you sit with the piece a few days before deciding — these are objects that grow on you.

Commissions

Can I commission a custom piece?

Yes. Begin a commission conversation by telling Emy what you're imagining. Each commission begins with a sketch and an itemized estimate before any commitment.

How much does a commission cost?

Commissions start around $400 and most fall between $600 and $1,800. Lighting, motion, and bespoke materials add cost. Full pricing breakdown is shared during the commission conversation.

How long does a commission take?

Most commissions take 4–10 weeks from the sketch-approved moment to ship. Larger or more complex pieces take longer; rush options are limited.

Care

How do I clean a piece?

Dust gently with a soft brush — a clean makeup brush works perfectly. Avoid cloths (they catch on small details). Don't use water or cleaners.

Where should I display it?

Out of direct sunlight (preserves color), away from humidity (no bathrooms or kitchens), on a stable surface. Bookshelves, mantels, and bedside tables are ideal.

What if a small detail comes loose?

Email Emy with a photo. Most small repairs can be guided over email; larger ones can be sent back for repair (we cover return shipping for any defect within the first year).

Newsletter & Community

What is the Firelight Council?

It's our newsletter. Subscribers hear when new pieces are ready — first look, before the shop goes public. Never more often than that.

How do I join?

The signup form lives in the footer of every page. One email address, no spam. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Where can I follow Emy's work?

Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest — links in the footer. Instagram tends to have the most behind-the-scenes process.
